Former NDP Premier Harcourt Discusses Housing Crisis
Supply Supply Supply, former BC NDP Premier Harcourt argues our housing crisis is caused by a lack of supply to meet demand at a recent housing crisis forum in Victoria this past Tuesday.
In short, he calls for mass up zoning coupled with substantial increases in rapid mass transit. Harcourt also states that taxation will not solve the root cause of the housing problem (supply and demand), and only serve to muddy the water. Harcourt points the blame at neighborhood groups, and city councils who hesitate to mass up zone and push through developments, saying it might not be the popular thing to do, but it is the right thing.
